1Overview
Overview

Pumphouse Point is an iconic Australian destination hotel, sensitively set on the edge of Lake St Clair in the World-Heritage listed Tasmanian wilderness. The boutique retreat comprises two lovingly restored heritage-listed industrial buildings, the Pumphouse and Shorehouse. In their former lives, these were part of a 1930’s water pumping facility supporting Tasmania's hydro-electricity scheme. The Pumphouse is positioned at the end of a jetty over the water, allowing guests to gaze out the window to the lake below. Both buildings feature several lounge areas and fireplaces where the well-stocked guest honour bars invite you to pour your favourite Tasmanian wine, whisky or gin. Each guest room has a private Larder stocked with local cheese, charcuterie, salmon and freshly-baked sourdough bread on demand. In the evening, the three-course farmhouse dinners at the Shorehouse are an opportunity for guests to meet and share stories of the day’s adventures in the wilderness.
