6Itinerary
Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Upon arrival in Alta, one of Norway’s northernmost towns, you’ll be met by your private driver for a short scenic transfer along the Alta River to Sorrisniva Arctic Wilderness Lodge. Settle in with a welcome drink by the open fire as the team introduces you to the days ahead and discusses your activity preferences. Depending on your arrival time, optional experiences such as reindeer sledding along the frozen river or a scenic helicopter flight over the Alta Canyon can be arranged. This evening, enjoy a three-course dinner at Maku Restaurant, with views of the river and surrounding wilderness.

Day 2

After a traditional Norwegian breakfast at Lavvu Restaurant, set off on an unforgettable Arctic Light Snowmobiling adventure, riding through the snow-covered Alta River valley to the inland plateau. With all gear and instruction provided, you’ll navigate the snowy trails under the soft glow of Arctic light. Return to the lodge for a well-earned lunch, followed by a one-hour spa session featuring a sauna and private outdoor jacuzzi. After your three-course dinner this evening, join an expert guide for a Northern Lights hunt, complete with insights and photography tips as you search for the best vantage point based on the evening’s conditions.

Day 3

After breakfast, set off on a challenging guided snowshoe adventure through the Alta Valley to a dramatic frozen waterfall. Pause to warm up by a cosy bonfire with a hot drink and lunch before returning to the lodge to check out. You’ll then be transferred a short distance to Holmen Husky Lodge, a unique Arctic retreat and home to a pack of friendly Alaskan Huskies. This evening, enjoy a two-course dinner at The Barn, overlooking the kennels and surrounding mountains, before settling into your cosy A-frame cabin for the night. With luck, you may even catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights from your bed.

Option to swap the frozen waterfall hike to a less challenging, 2-hour snowshoe hike with a bonfire, though this does not incude the waterfall. Please let your Journey Designer know if you would prefer this option.

Pause mid-journey for lunch in the open air or at a traditional mountain hut. Back at the lodge, warm up with a relaxing sauna and jacuzzi session before enjoying a delicious two-course dinner featuring locally sourced ingredients.
