Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Departing Christchurch in the early morning, you’ll board the iconic TranzAlpine - one of the world’s most scenic rail journeys - for a 2.5-hour trip across the sweeping Canterbury Plains and into the heart of the Southern Alps. Disembark at Arthur’s Pass, where your private guide will meet you for a relaxed exploration of the alpine village, followed by a series of short walks in Arthur’s Pass National Park, including the renowned Devil’s Punchbowl Track. After enjoying a packed lunch along the trail, continue to Flockhill Lodge for a late afternoon check-in. Unwind with a glass of New Zealand wine and chef-prepared canapés, before indulging in a decadent four-course dinner at the onsite Sugarloaf Restaurant.

Day 2

Start your day with a wholesome breakfast, before meeting your private guide for a full-day hike in the nearby Flockhill landscape, home to some of the region’s most striking and iconic limestone formations. Walk through a dramatic terrain shaped by time, where weathered limestone boulders and intricate rock formations rise from the earth in striking contrast to the surrounding alpine backdrop. A premium picnic lunch is enjoyed along the trail, before returning to the lodge in the afternoon. Relax with pre-dinner canapés, followed by another sumptuous dinner at Sugarloaf.

Day 3

After breakfast, meet your private guide for another journey into Arthur’s Pass National Park - this time to explore the scenic Bealey Spur Track. Enjoy panoramic views of the Waimakariri River valley, cascading waterfalls, and the surrounding alpine peaks as you make your way to the historic Bealey Spur Hut, once a shelter for high-country sheep musterers. A picnic lunch is enjoyed on the trail, surrounded by the beauty of the high country. On your return to the lodge, settle in with canapés and mountain views before a final four-course dinner at Sugarloaf Restaurant.

Enjoy a leisurely morning and relaxed breakfast before checking out and meeting your private driver for the return journey to Christchurch and your onward travel.
