1Overview
Overview

On this 13 kilometre guided hike to the summit and glaciers of the Osorno volcano, you’ll witness the results of the volcanic processes that, together with the glaciations, sculpted the unique geography of the Southern Andes. The Desolation Trail begins at the northern end of Vincente Perez Rosales National Park with a 40-minute ascent to the mountain pass formed between the Osorno volcano and La Picada hill. From here there are panoramic views of the basin and volcanoes surrounding Lake Todos los Santos. From the summit, the trail continues downhill towards Todos los Santos Lake, ending at its beaches, near the Petrohué river.
