This iconic outback journey starts in Perth, passing through the Avon Valley and on to the goldfields region of Kalgoorlie, before crossing the Nullabor to Adelaide. From Adelaide, the train continues across regional South Australia and New South Wales towards Sydney, stopping at the Blue Mountains. Your Indian Pacific experience features all-inclusive onboard dining and beverages, all off-train excursions and private ensuite cabins.

        The Indian Pacific departs from East Perth or Sydney; it is also possible to board the Indian Pacific in Adelaide at the half-way point for the journey in either direction to Perth or Sydney.

        Day-by-Day Itinerary

        Day 1

        Your journey from Perth begins as you pull away from the platform mid-morning. Settle into your comfortable cabin and get to know the creature comforts of life onboard. Enjoy a modern Australian lunch as you glide through the picturesque rolling hills of the Avon Valley. After a relaxing afternoon onboard, enjoy a three-course dinner prior to your late evening arrival into the gold-mining town of Kalgoorlie.

        Day 2

        Awake to the spectacular expanse of the Nullarbor Plain and watch the sunrise. Be captivated by the stillness of the desert landscape and keep your eyes peeled for kangaroos. Waiting ahead is the charm of the once-thriving Nullarbor railway town of Cook. Sit back and relax as the train continues its trek across the longest single stretch of railway in the world. Weather permitting, guests will disembark at Rawlinna for canapes and drinks around a bonfire. Another regionally-inspired dinner is to follow with drinks in the lounge before retiring to your cabin for the night.

        Day 3

        ​You will arrive into Adelaide early this morning and have a choice of two off-train excursions to explore the city. Choose from a visit to the local markets for a progressive walking breakfast or go on a walking tour of the city including Adelaide oval. After some fresh air, board the train for the final leg of your cross-country journey to Sydney.

        Indian Pacific Journey Beyond

        Day 4

        ​​​​​This morning starts in the picturesque Blue Mountains of New South Wales. After breakfast, disembark to view the iconic Three Sisters and Jamison Valley on an off-train excursion, before completing your journey into Sydney mid-afternoon.

        When is the best time to visit WA?

        Western Australia is a vast State with two distinct weather zones dictating the best time to visit. The northern third of the State including Broome and the Kimberley experience warm dry winters and humid wet summer months between November and March.

        When is the best time to visit New South Wales?

        Much of New South Wales enjoys a mild sub-tropical climate with humid warm summers and mild winters. Sydney and the Blue Mountains region are generally 4 or 5 degrees cooler than the Central Coast and northern NSW Hinterland region including Byron Bay.
