A hidden gem on the South Island's east coast, the Kaikōura Coastal Walk offers spectacular views of the Seaward Kaikōura Range and the Pacific Ocean. This day walk follows the private Kaikōura Coastal Trail for 13km along beaches, through farmland and coastal bush. Spot fur seals and dolphins playing in the surf and enjoy the sounds of native birdsong along the walk. Hosted by a local guide with a deep connection to the region, you'll learn about the landscape, plants, wildlife and cultural history that make Kaikōura so special. A picnic lunch is also included, best enjoyed at one of the scenic lookout points.

Getting Here

The Kaikōura Coastal Track commences at The Beach House, 40km south of Kaikōura (about 40 minutes by road) or 140 km north of Christchurch (two hours by road) on New Zealand's South Island. Walk into Luxury can arrange fully customised journeys including accommodation and private transfers.
