Journey deep into Norway’s High Arctic on this 8-night expedition cruise through the Svalbard Archipelago, one of the world’s most remote and wildlife-rich polar regions. Travelling aboard either Ultramarine, Quark’s next-generation polar vessel, or the well-appointed Ocean Explorer, this journey offers a chance to explore dramatic fjords, calving glaciers and expansive tundra in search of Arctic wildlife and raw, untouched landscapes. With 24-hour daylight during the Arctic summer, your days are filled with guided Zodiac® excursions and shore landings led by a team of expert naturalists. Optional activities such as kayaking and heli-landings (conditions permitting) offer even deeper immersion. This journey begins and ends in Longyearbyen, the largest settlement in Norway’s Svalbard archipelago and the northernmost town in the world. Regular flights operate to Longyearbyen from Oslo and Tromsø, and also Helsinki, with connections available via major European cities. Walk into Luxury will assist with pre- and post-cruise accommodation, flights and transfers.

Day 1

Your Arctic journey begins in Longyearbyen^, the northernmost town in the world and the gateway to the Svalbard archipelago. You'll be transferred to the pier to board your expedition vessel. Settle into your stateroom and enjoy a welcome briefing as the ship sets sail into Isfjorden, surrounded by glacier-topped peaks.

Day 2 to Day 8

Spend the week navigating the wild coastlines and icy fjords of Spitsbergen, with daily excursions shaped by wildlife sightings and weather conditions. Your experienced expedition team will guide Zodiac® outings and shore landings to explore glaciers, bird cliffs, historic sites and the colourful Arctic tundra. Highlights may include Alkefjellet, the 14th of July Glacier – known for its dramatic ice face and summer wildflowers - and the Hinlopen Strait – a scenic passage with dense ice floes and potential polar bear sightings. There’s a strong focus on wildlife throughout, with opportunities to spot polar bears, walrus, Arctic fox, reindeer and a wide variety of seabirds. Optional kayaking or paddling excursions are also available for those seeking a more immersive experience on the water (a fee applies).
