Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Your Svalbard journey begins in the Arctic town of Longyearbyen, the gateway to Norway's northernmost archipelago. After embarkation in the late afternoon, meet your expedition crew and settle into your cabin as your ship sets sail through the spectacular Isfjorden. Enjoy a welcome drink on deck and your first dinner onboard as the ship heads into the heart of the High Arctic.

Day 2 to Day 3

Spend the next two days exploring the glacier-filled fjords and dramatic coastlines of southwest Spitsbergen. The region is known for its sculpted ice, steep cliffs and rich wildlife, with opportunities to see seabird colonies, Arctic fox and possibly beluga or minke whales. Daily Zodiac® outings allow you to get closer to the ice and land ashore for guided walks, with your route adjusted to make the most of weather and wildlife conditions.

Day 4

On this day, the ship will head north towards the edge of the polar ice floe. Weather permitting, you'll venture out by Zodiac® for a closer look at the shifting sea ice and possibly spot polar bears or seals that depend on this icy habitat. Cruising through the stillness of the pack ice is a surreal experience and one of the voyage highlights.

Day 5 to Day 6

The north-western reaches of Spitsbergen reveal a striking Arctic landscape of glacier-filled fjords, jagged peaks and expansive tundra. Zodiac® outings and landings may bring you to remote islands, bays and scientific outposts, with opportunities to see Svalbard reindeer, walrus hauled out on the shoreline, and whales in the icy waters. Your naturalist guides will interpret the history, geology and ecology of each landing site as you explore this remote frontier.

Day 7

Visit Ny-Ålesund, one of the world's northernmost settlements and a hub for international Arctic research. Once a mining town, it is now a quiet outpost with a museum and post office, surrounded by dramatic glacial scenery. Weather permitting, a landing here offers a chance to walk through its historic centre and gain insight into Svalbard's exploration history.
