This expedition begins and ends in Longyearbyen, the capital of Norway's Svalbard archipelago. Located well above the Arctic Circle, Longyearbyen is reached via a 2-3 hour flight from Tromsø or Oslo respectively. Arrive in Longyearbyen and embark Le Commandant Charcot in the late afternoon. Settle into your suite, attend safety briefings, and enjoy your first dinner onboard.

Sail along the rugged coast of Spitsbergen, with views of dramatic fjords, towering glaciers and jagged peaks. The day offers opportunities to observe seabirds and soak up the views from the deck.

Begin your voyage through the heart of the ice floe. Conditions permitting, join Zodiac outings and take part in snowshoeing, kayaking, or hikes. Look out for seals and polar bears along the way.
