Known as the Kuluyampi Explorer, discover the wonders of Nitmiluk Gorge with a scenic boat cruise, followed by a self-guided paddle at your own pace

1Overview
Overview

One of the best ways to explore Nitmiluk National Park near Katherine in the Top End of the Northern Territory is on the water. This full-day journey begins with a scenic boat cruise to the top of the first gorge, where you'll collect your canoe, ready to begin your self-paced adventure. How you choose to explore Nitmiluk Gorge from here is up to you and your fitness levels, experience and preferences. Active adventurers may wish to continue paddling upstream to the subsequent gorges. For a gentler pace, enjoy a picnic on the riverbank or a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear freshwater pools. As you drift past sandstone cliffs, waterfalls, rock pools and tropical vegetation, look out for wildlife escaping the day's heat. Heading back, the changing colours under the setting sun will provide a fitting finale to this special experience.
