Discover the thundering Huka Falls in Taupo following the Spa Park Walk along the Waikato River

1Overview
Overview

Huka Falls is a powerful sight and must-see attraction when visiting Taupo. Flowing from the calm Waikato River, the water gains momentum as it heads towards a natural channel before plunging eleven metres in an icy blue churn at Huka Falls. The best way to view the falls is to follow the scenic 3km Spa Park Walk along the banks of the river. You'll notice the change in the sound of the bubbling river as you approach the thundering falls, adding to the experience. On the return walk you might like to stop for a dip in the natural thermal spa on the side of the river where it crosses Otumuheke stream. Soaking in the vitamin-rich geothermal waters is known to increase blood circulation and inspire relaxation.
