When is the best time to visit the Kimberley?

The Kimberley region of WA offers one for the most dramatic landscape in the whole country. Following the indigenous seasons, the best time to visit the Kimberley is anytime other than the Lanja (build-up) and Man-gala (monsoon) between November and March.

The Kimberley wet season can bring damaging storms to the coastline near Broome and significant rainfall events in the East Kimberley. This is also a season where travel can be impacted by seasonal closures in some areas due to flooding.

We recommend timing your visit to the Kimberley for the dry season (April to October) to be able to enjoy the landscape and get active in fine warm conditions. If you would like to see the Kimberley’s waterfalls at their best, aim for the start of the dry season (March to May depending on the specific area). Given most visitors time their visit for the dry season which only runs for six months, it is always worth booking early when planning a trip to the Kimberley.
