Discover the nature trails, waterfalls and hot springs in and around Katherine and Nitmiluk National Park
There are plenty of opportunities for scenic rest stops when travelling in and around Katherine and Nitmiluk National Park in the Northern Territory's Top End. At beautiful Leliyn (Edith Falls) located 60 km north of Katherine, enjoy a stunning clifftop loop walk around the top of the falls and reward yourself with a picnic lunch and a swim in the pandanus and paperbark-fringed natural pool at the falls' base. Following a short drive south of Katherine, you'll find the small town of Mataranka where you can indulge in a relaxing soak in one of Elsey National Park's crystal-clear spring-fed thermal pools. If you're feeling active, try the 1.5 km Botanic Walk loop or follow the eight-kilometre Riverside Walk to Korowan (Mataranka Falls).
This self-drive experience is recommended when visiting Cicada Lodge. Available year-round, subject to weather and road conditions. April to October is best as some sections of the park may be inaccessible during the wet season.
Note: This experience is only available when booked with accommodation or a Walk into Luxury Journey that includes time in the Top End of the Northern Territory. Refer to the suggested combinations below or contact us for further private journey options.
