Your 10 Night Kimberley cruise from Broome to Darwin takes in all the best sites in the luxury comfort you'd expect from Silversea. Discover Horizontal Falls and Hunter River, the mighty Twin Falls and King George River, among other sites as you cruise north up the coast to Darwin.             Day 1

            You'll embark your Silversea cruise in Broome, boarding mid afternoon in time for a sunset drink as you set sail at 4.30pm. Get to know fellow guests over dinner in the Restaurant or at the outdoor Grill on the back deck tonight. If it's a warm night, consider a dip in the whirlpool and see the milky way light up the Kimberley night sky.

            Silversea Luxury Kimberley Cruise - Broome Sailing

            Day 2 & 3

            As the ship heads north from Broome, you'll enter the Buccaneer Archipelago, an area 50 square kilometres in size, comprised of around 800 islands. This region experiences huge 12 metre tides, which generates a powerful tidal pull resulting in natural phenomena, including Montgomery Reef and world-renowned 'Horizontal Falls'. Explore the area today by Zodiac, with options to enjoy a thrilling fast-boat ride through the falls or witness Montgomery reef seemingly rise from the ocean as the tidal pull creates cascades over the reef and a unique spectacular. Other excursion options while in the Archipelago include a hiking excursion with the Silversea expedition team to view Aboriginal rock art at Raft Point or Freshwater Cove.

            Day 4 & 5

            For the next two days we explore the magnificent Hunter River region, with the option to discover the Mitchell Falls on an excursion further inland. The Hunter River is home to an immense mangrove system surrounded by towering red sandstone cliffs. Narrow channels shelter a variety of bird species, mudskippers, fiddler crabs and the saltwater crocodile. There is even the chance of discovering dolphins, hammerhead sharks and turtles while exploring this diverse region by Zodiac with the Silversea team. Naturalist Island at the mouth of the river has a stunning stretch of sandy beach that makes a perfect landing site for small helicopters that can pick up visitors wishing to explore some of the Kimberley’s vast interior including Mitchell Falls (fee applies). Other excursion options over your two days in the Hunter includes a guided hike to discover Gwion-Gwion and Wandjina rock art at Swift Bay and Vansittart Bay.

            Day 6

            Today we visit another Kimberley icon, the King George River and its mighty Twin Falls. At 80 meters (260 feet), the thundering spectacle of the twin cascades are among the highest falls in Australia, and one of the most striking with the surrounding near vertical red rock formations rising dramatically from the river below. King George River weaves through an amazing landscape of gorges, with amazing birdlife, raptors and saltwater crocodiles regularly sighted. A recommended excursion today is the guided walk to the top of Twin Falls, where you finish with a rewarding dip in the natural pool at the top.

            Day 7

            After arriving into the Kimberley port town of Wyndham, guests have the option to join an excursion to the Bungle Bungles or Ord River today. The Bungle Bungle ranges in Purnululu National Park are a World Heritage Site, in excess of 350 million years old, known for its orange and black beehive domes rising out of the ground. Known to the local Aboriginal people for thousands of years, the Bungles were only discovered by the outside world in the mid-1980s. View the ranges from the air on a scenic flight before lunch at a local hotel. Alternatively, you may like to join a peaceful boat cruise up the Ord River, which includes the opportunity to visit Lake Argyle, the Top Ord Dam and the Argyle Homestead Museum (home to the Durack family).

            Day 8

            After an active week, enjoy a relaxing day at sea. The ship facilities are available to enjoy, so consider a treatment at the onboard spa, use the steam room or whirlpools, or visit the gym. Other options while relaxing on deck include whale watching, or relaxing with a drink on your chosen corner of the ship to watch the ocean go by.

            Day 9

            Arrive at Matakus Island in the waters of Indonesia, and enjoy an island excursion today with the Silversea team where you can order a lunch of freshly caught and grilled fish from one of the local fishermen. The island is surrounded by fine, white-sand beaches and is a marine paradise, with fields of staghorn coral and schools of cardinalfish visible in its crystal clear waters. Enjoy snorkelling in the clear waters or watch the birdlife from the viewing platform, with local varieties including the Tanimbar starling, Moluccan masked owl, Fawn-breasted thrush and Blue-streaked lorry.
