One of New Zealand's Great Walks, the Routeburn Track offers the ultimate in alpine, lake and valley views for keen hikers

1Overview
Overview

One of two spectacular day walk options we recommend on the Routeburn Track, this full-day guided walk takes you to Routeburn Flats, with an optional steep short ascent to Routeburn Falls. The track begins at Routeburn Shelter, gently winding alongside the crystal-clear Route Burn (river) before crossing a swing bridge that leads to the open grassy Routeburn Flats. Along the way, enjoy magnificent views of snow-capped mountains, glacial lakes, river gorges, waterfalls and ancient beech forests overlooking the vast Routeburn Valley below. A picnic lunch, an experienced private guide and all transfers are included in this full-day adventure.

This day hike is featured in our signature Blanket Bay Walk.

We also recommend the Key Summit section of the Routeburn Track, available as a day walk from Te Anau with a customised private journey or as part of our Fiordland Great Walk package.
